We decided to take a break from our house, our town, actually our entire state and go to Memphis, a 2(ish) hour drive. It was a great theory, but this was our reality:
- Actually left our house by 9 am (yeah)
- Went to Kohls to get Aaron some shoes (yeah)
- Left Sophie's doggie at Kolhs by accident and didn't realize it until over half way to Memphis. UNBELIEVABLE MISTAKE in Sophie's life as it effects her entire outlook on life and happiness in general. (Total bummer)
- Stopped for lunch and realized a big storm was coming in from the west, it was in the Little Rock area as we ate (YIKES!)
- Heather called us with the storm and tornado report (double YIKES!)
- Dad calls from COLORADO to warn us about the tornado report (Triple YIKES! with an added, lets haul!)
- Learn that the tornado reports yield 25 tornadoes and 7 deaths (OH MY! Thank you God for keeping us safe!)
- Hit the hotel with our usual explosion of pent up energy and stuff. (relief at last, yeah)
- Go to the local toy store to try and find a replacement for doggie. (Yeah, maybe)
- Go to the local mall and play in their playground, ride the carousel and visit the Godiva store, a must for sure (YEAH!)
- Return to the hotel with take out. (yeah, we were hungry.)
- Bath and bed, (UGLY with no Doggie)
- Hours later we fall asleep (Bummer)
- Wake up at 3:30 with a little lady that misses her doggie. (Total bummer)
- Get Sophie to sleep after a drive around the parking lot at 5AM (bummer, thanks Aaron for taking a hit for the team and sleepily driving her)
- Wake up with 2 energetic, ready for the zoo girls at 6:15 very AM!! Oh, you have to be kidding me!! Complete with Sarah ripping the curtains back to reveal a very bright, very cloudless, VERY SUNNY morning with flash backs from childhood when my parents used that as a last ditch effort to get me out of bed) UGH can you hear the groaning? Paybacks are a booger girls ;-) (Bummer)
- Eat breakfast way too early (bummer)
- Are some of the first to grace the zoo with our presence, and actually, it was nice to have the place really to ourselves for awhile. (Yeah)
- Things we did at the zoo: Learned the hippos are HUGE when the are next to you sleeping, sea lions are like seals only they have external ears and are highly amusing, Sophie loves carousels, we part of a Sarah lead ladybug relocation project that sidetracked many zoo goers. One less ladybug in danger, great job Sarah! (The zoo experience was a Total YEAH, except my sunburn, I may learn about sunblock, but not today apparently, oops...)
- Headed home with an exhausted van full of travelers (Yeah)
- Home sweet home with an intact house. (YEAH!) Thank you God for sparing us from your power again!
- Final score: Yeahs- 10, Bummers - 7, Yikes(es) -3 (or 6 depending on how you count it). It was a good trip!
