Tomei is our amazingly talented neighbor, fluent in Japanese, Chinese and English! She has been so great and PATIENT as she teaches me Japanese. Anyway, she made this cake from a picture in a children's book. Hmm, it was really good.
The palm tree is the top and sides to a pineapple, held upright by chopsticks, the top is a cherry tomato and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
The turkey served the turkey. The Japanese don't serve turkey, they've never seen one, they kept saying "chicken". Tomei is a total chef. She made turkey, ham, lasagna, oysters, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, salad and cranberries. Oh and corn dogs and fries for the kids. All was fabulous!
