Imperial Palace

Don't know what Sophie was looking at, but she is looking at the same thing in all our pictures, this one happens to be one where she's smiling.

We didn't realize at the time of my surgery, but my eye surgeon is 2 blocks away from the Imperial palace, the gardens and the Imperial residence.
On one of my many follow-up visits, we thought we should take the girls to say "hi" to Emperor Akihito since we were in the neighborhood.
I'm sure the guards have relayed our message...
