Great read!

For all those who are a stay-at-home mom, want to be a stay-at-home mom or dream of someday becoming one, let me say that the book you NEED to read is "Professionalizing Motherhood" by Jill Savage. Oh so good. Here is a sample that spoke to my heart.

Difference between being a "housekeeper" and "making a home", Cultivate the skills, not only of housekeeping but of making a home for your family. As you know already, they are not always exactly the same. Housekeeping consists of the laundry, the dishes, the toilets and floors that need to be scrubbed, but homemaking is something else. The difference between housekeeping and homemaking is the difference between a barren filed and a lovely, fragrant garden.
Homemaking is the deliberate cultivation of beauty and productivity in family relationships. Homemaking is about celebrating each other, about caring for each other, as well as for your friends and extended families and even the occasional stranger. Anyone can keep a house. Not everyone bothers to make a home.
The profession of motherhood has one primary goal-to see a child grow into a mature, godly, respectful and loving adult. This is a task that takes an investment of more that eighteen years for each child.

Her advise and insight is changing my view of motherhood and my response to my kids. I hope it is an encouragement to those out there in the trenches.
