So my birthday is coming up, happens to be on the lesser know day of Super Bowl Sunday. I decided to do 36 random acts of kindness to celebrate. It's actually been really fun. My progress so far...
1.Thanked the ladies that clean our locker room at the gym, one of which is such a great lady. She, strangely enough, reminds me of a woman I met at the DMV. Wait, stop laughing! The DMV woman had a great sense of humor, had the ability to relax (once you got to her window for help) and made you believe she was going to be on your side through the process, and we did have a process because nothing is easy in the military. Anyway, she was kind, efficient and productive. I thought about all the people in the world that think you have to have a special job or be someone super important to make a huge difference. Not true I say. Look at these 2 women. Of all those in the world who have the right to complain, they do. Instead, they work hard, treat those around them with respect and at the end of the day, make you happy to be in their presence. What a gift.
2. Cleaned the hair out of the shower and drain, and cleaned trash out of the shower stall at the gym. Um gross.
3. Did not honk at a driver that sat through a green turn light. (THE ENTIRE GREEN LIGHT!)
4. Gave cookies to the mailman
5. Encouraged someone at the gym that looked like she needed someone to come along side her and give her the courage to make it through the day.
6. Picked up someones bag of coupons they dropped at the commissary.
7. Pushed some carts to the cart return in the store.
8. Gave a new friend a hug, just because...
9. Washed Aaron's car with Sophie, by hand.
10. Volunteer in Sarah's class. Actually, I do this every week. It's a great way to give the kids some individual time and encourage them, to get to know them and give them confidence from someone that is a random player in their life.
SO 10 down, 26 to go...
