I see the whole world

Saturday was our day to be a family and regain some of the time we have been missing so badly so we decided to go somewhere out of town and be with each other. We decided on Petit Jean State Park for the day. It was an hour drive so it was great to have some down time that Sarah could watch a movie and Aaron and I could catch up on life. Molly had a great time watching for the cows and horses and alerting us when she saw them. She needed a day vacation as much as we did.

We got to the park and let the doors open and the family spilled out of the car and went in opposite directions wandering around a new place and exploring new things. Our first stop was at an overlook that was beautiful. The river was at our feet and the hills were on the horizon, it was peaceful and great. Sarah said "I can see the whole world", it's fun to take her places that are new so she can see new things and for the first time challenge her boundaries and what she thinks is normal. It was good for us to let he breeze blow and take a deep breath and relax. It was great, Molly wanted off the leash so badly but we didn't want Sarah to watch her favorite dog walk off the face of the whole world. Sarah ran around and climbed all over the rocks. She was having a great time, it was hard to get her back into the car long enough to get to the next place to explore. We finally got everyone rounded up and headed onto the next place. We spent all day out walking and hiking, climbing and exploring. It was great to give her some freedom to see her world and let her notice things for the first time that are things that are no longer wondrous to us. I think that is one of the greatest blessings of childhood for us parents. It's great to see things through their eyes and take it slower.

Needless to say, she was asleep in about 5 minutes as we headed home. Molly was also a lot more relaxed and we enjoyed a quiet relaxing trip home. So here is another secret to Arkansas, they don't have a lot of Dairy Queen's here, we know of 2. So my secret goal is to have a day trip arranged around one of the 2 that I know about. I say this is a secret, but Aaron is on to me by now. Anyway, we topped our day off with Ice Cream. A perfect ending to a perfect day... AHHH.
